Safety is our 1st Priority
All of our adult mentors go through the Youth for Christ application process which requires references and a BCI/FBI background check. They also undergo training on such things as mandated reporting and appropriate teen/adult boundaries.
"Drop-in" adults who want to check out our operation are totally welcome, but are escorted by staff should they wish to pass the check-in area.

Our history
YFC has been service the Brunswick community for decades through our Campus Life program, borrowing space on Monday nights for 2 hours. In August of 2019 our volunteers were asked - "What could we do with 3,500 sq ft of space dedicated to meeting the needs of teens?" It only took us about 5 minutes to realize the answer was- A WHOLE LOT! But was there a need for something like this in Brunswick?
We looked at the space and opened just 10 weeks later for a trial to test the waters with an after school program for Middle Schoolers. Just a few short weeks later word of mouth had spread and we have been growing ever since.
Our mission
Being a teenager today stinks, and being a parent of a teenager can be challenging too. Our background checked mentors are trained in a variety of areas and help teens and families navigate these critical years and the common issues they face like insecurity, bullying, anxiety, self-harm, and navigating the mixed messages of social media.
That Place for Teens offers a variety of activities, free to teens, to keep them off the streets and someone who will always listen. Through our after-school program, club meetings, community programs, hang-out time, and mentoring, we walk with teens through the challenging adolescent years and encourage them to think critically about their life choices and matters of faith.
